Macro Photographs Of My Cat

Meet Caspar! I’m pretty sure he has been featured on my blog before, but I’m pretty sure you’ve never seen him as close up as you’re about to in these macro photographs of my cat series. Caspar is a hard cat to pin down, he’s still quite a young chap so, when he’s not snoozing in the house somewhere, he’s usually outside hunting. God, I’ve seen him in action in the street and it’s not pretty.

It’s a cold, sunny winters morning, extra toasty in the house due to the extra rays coming through the window. It’s a Saturday so my partner is tending to the baby and I have a few minutes before going out shooting so, I grabbed my Macro adapter and took photographs of Caspar who was truly basking in that sunshine.

This photo was taken using a Canon 6D with a 70-300mm zoom lens and a macro adapter.

I was going to convert the photographs to black and white however, that meant that I’d loose a lot of the winter sun hues in the pictures and they just didn’t feel the same so I kept them in colour. I also didn’t want to crop in too much to the images because it felt like I was discarding too much of the image, despite it all being out of focus. Composition is important at the end of the day.
